Super Space Armada

Description:

"SuperSpaceArmada is a Top-Down 2D space shooter game where players can choose among six ships from different races, each with their own unique combat abilities and stats. Playable races include Humans, Hive, Cephalons, Vultarii, Kratakos, and Dragomir. Players purchase ships with star tokens and build an armada. After final purchases are made players deploy one ship at a time from their armada and battle until they defeat their opponents or are defeated themselves. Players will battle with the opposing star commander and encounter the dangers of asteroid storms, the boon of power up bonanza's and other such surprises as they fight through the Galactic Tournament!”

The game is basically a fully playable concept demo created in roughly 3 months worth of work time.

Creation Tools:
The game was created using the Unreal game engine, GitHub was used for version control, Unreal Blueprints coding, and most of the 3D assets were sculpted and painted using 3D Coat then rigged/animated in Blender. Slack software was used for team management. Used Audacity to edit audio and dialogue from our voice actors to add special effects to make them sound more alien-like as needed. Adobe Premiere was used to put together the marketing and gameplay videos.

My Contributions:
My main roles were Programmer and Lead Designer. I was also responsible for creating biographies for the different alien races, writing the lore behind each one, and how they all tie together into the Galactic Tournament (single-player story mode). I was also responsible for most of the audio elements including putting together the game music plus writing all of the lines of dialogue (which were mainly for the Star Commanders representing each unique alien race and the tournament announcer) then communicating with our voice actors telling them what dialogue lines we wanted them to record for us and then used Audacity to edit their dialogue lines to add effects making them sound more alien-like to match their characters. As Lead Designer, I organized most of the game documentation figuring out what unique abilities each alien ship should have, what stats we wanted each ship to have, explaining the different weapons systems, how buying ships and managing your armada works, describing how all the random map events affect the battle, and flushing out other similar game mechanics. As a Programmer I worked in Unreal using Blueprints to code some of the story-mode UI navigation elements, ship weapon systems, unique ship abilities, and other implemented features.
